There’s a rumour that Sony and PlayStation will officially reveal Project Spartacus later this week, which would be Sony’s equivalent to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass.
If the allegations are accurate, the service, which is supposed to be a cross between PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, might be released this week. It would launch with a strong array of “previous year’s top games” and be available on several levels, with the more costly extended demonstrations and the option to broadcast games.
Then there’s Greg Miller’s tweet from last night, implying that this will be a big week for Sony and PlayStation.
But set that aside. Because this week brought us another significant piece of information: Sony has officially filed a trademark for Knack in Japan.
The trademark was submitted in Japan on March 19, according to Gematsu.
The entry is merely for the name Knack, so it’s unknown if we’ll be receiving an updated PS5 collection of titles to date, a new title, a reboot, or anything else. completely
Knack was created by Sony’s Japan Studio, which was delisted from Sony’s studio listings on its website in 2021. The studio has already been shut down, according to reports.
So if we’re looking at the barrel of a brand new Knack game, who could develop it? Japan Studio was folded into Team Asobi (the folks behind the hugely popular Astro Bot games) in 2021… so we might see the staff at that studio turning their sights on the future PlayStation mascot in the future. So could this be a very impressive week for Sony – a new platform to bring its users games and something to do with Knack, all in one go? We are spoiled.
